Gobby
Written and performed by Jodie Irvine
Directed By Rosie Snell
Gobby toured the UK in 2019 before opening at Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2019 with Underbelly and also performing on subsequent UK dates at the Pleasance, Islington and the Vaults Festival 2020.
I designed and constructed the costume for the protagonist Bri, tailored to Jodie with additional costume duplicates.
I also supported the production added additional design elements and collaborated with the director to adapt the show to the different venues.
I stage-managed the show throughout the tour, the Edinborough Fringe run and the tour after.

Bri’s early costumes had waist ties but were later cut for practicality
Costumes were tailored to Jodie’s measurements and made from light weight viscous
Large black speakers on wheels added to the party set, acted as seating and were used as storage for the set when touring and for fast get in/get outs at Edinburgh Fringe
Party hats, balloons, paper plates and cups made up the key set elements
